Alcohol-free beer?

You gotta love how some phrases just leave you shaking your head. Such as alcohol-free beer. What does that even mean? Wonder what that even tastes like.

Well, apparently it’s the new hit in Germany among athletes…

A German brewery has started touting its no-alcohol beer as the latest sports drink for athletes claiming it has “regenerative benefits.”

Erdinger Alkoholfrei is now being given out at the finish line of sporting events — like the World Cup biathlons — and sports stars are even being signed up to help promote it.

Brewery bosses say the no-alcohol beer is “a very healthy product” and that being isotonic and vitamin-rich makes it an effective drink to sip on post exercise.

However, unlike traditional sports drinks, it’s served with a frothy head and is a familiar golden color — not in a squeezey bottle.

What other oxymorons are you particularly fond of? Any ODD ones you can think of?

When it comes to sports drinks or energy drinks, what are your favorites? I started with Red Bull and still enjoy that but have cut back drastically. I found a brand called XS and that was pretty good. I’m always on the lookout for “healthy energy drinks” so let me know if you know of any new brands.

I saw this in a Bed Bath & Beyond ad and was a bit curious on how this worked. Wonder if it tastes just like real soda as the product claims…

I tried the Coors non-alcoholic beer and it doesn’t taste right. Never buying that again. My boss got the Sodastream and it’s pretty good. The flavors that come with it are hit or miss.

i don’t like regular beer to begin with so i’m pretty sure i wouldn’t like some beer tasting sports drink! i saw that soda machine thing and wondered how it tasted, too! looks pretty cool but i didn’t know if you’d be stuck with only one flavor until you used up the whole container. oh shucks, just realized i was supposed think of oxymorons…

Non-alcoholic beer has been around for a while, but now it’s a sports drink!! I don’t like the taste of beer anyway.
As for the soda machine. I’ve seen other versions before but then they disappeared.
They had small gas cylinders that you had to have refilled to carbonate the water. You mixed in the flavoring separately. How it tastes would depend on what syrup you use. If you mix Coca-Cola syrup with carbonated water you get Coke.

Near Beer tastes pretty bad in general in my opinion. They tend to lack the depth of flavor of traditional beers. And they only come in lager or pilsner. You never see a non-alcoholic stout.

Sodastream had a huge roll out about six months ago. Ads on the Dan Patrick Radio Show, sponsoring PTI, etc. Haven’t seen much from them lately.

Good evening!!

My beer must have alcohol in it because that’s how I roll.

I used to drink red bull and monster but those drinks never made me hyper. It actually made me sleepy. I guess too much sugar makes me sleepy.

That sodastream looks pretty interesting. I wonder if the cola syrup tastes more like coke or pepsi.

morning M and da Hive. some dock damage at the coast, but it looks like things are fine so far. lolos headed to the coast to watch the action seem to be jamming up the road (mostly two lane roads to and from the coast except for up at SF and down by Santa Cruz)and making it hard for people at the coast to evacuate. some idiots in SoCal seen paddling out at a few breaks.
